It also uses a USB C charger, so you don’t need to run around buying AAA’s. That said, if you turn the backlighting off, you get 5 months, which is five times the life of the Apple. This baby will only last 10 days if you use the backlighting feature. If you thought the Apple short-changed you for battery life, think again.

It works on just about any platform and has both USB and Bluetooth connectivity. It can be used across multiple devices, which is something Apple doesn’t do, and which is a significant selling point for many people. You can get a specially designed wrist rest for it, which is nice, though you probably won't need it. The rounded cups in the keycaps are brilliant for typing, as is the low-profile, short actuation point, and very slight angle. This thing not only senses ambient light and adjusts the brightness accordingly, but it also senses your proximity to it and dims when you leave the keyboard to save the battery. What do you get? Backlighting or more precisely Smart Backlighting. Even the MX Mini is 506 grams, so while it’s fair to say that this makes both iterations less transport friendly than the Apple, you get a good feeling of heft and quality with the added weight. It weighs 810 grams, which is significantly more than the 243 gram Apple.
